It’s not everyday that a mobile meth lab rolls into the town square. And it’s not every day that people from all over the city line up to visit it. (Thank goodness.)
But a replica of the RV “lab” used to produce methamphetamine on the popular TV show Breaking Bad, set up shop in Yonge-Dundas Square and will tour the city from November 26th – December 9th. The appearance was staged to promote the release of the show’s upcoming DVD boxed set. The public is invited to visit and even has the option try on a haz-mat suit for the full experience.
I’m one of the few people who hasn’t watched the series (yet). But i know that the storyline is about a highschool science teacher who turns to the production of illegal drugs to support his family, when he’s diagnosed with cancer.
My friend (who also hasn’t seen the series) was the one who told me about it and was keen to make a visit. Since she too is not (yet) a fan of the show, I wondered why she really wanted to go. “Because it’s probably the closest I’ll ever get to seeing a meth lab” she says. Good point. (And thank goodness.)
